The Financial Services Office (FSO) provides financial management for the department and assists other users of financial data both within and outside state government.The FSO is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the agency's budgeting, accounting, payroll, reporting, and procurement & contracting that meet adequate internal controls, are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and related state & federal laws, policies, and procedures.

The Department has a biennial budget of approximately $62 million funded through various revenue sources including the general fund, a variety of state special revenue funds, federal funds, proprietary funds and trust funds. The office receives approximately 30,000 checks and processes approximately 11,000 payments each fiscal year.
