
Headquartered in Missoula, MT, the Forestry Division is responsible for planning and implementing forestry and fire management programs through an extensive network of staff located in field and unit offices across the state. The Forestry Division delivers the following major functions: fire protection, forestry assistance, implementing the Good Neighbor Authority, executing the Montana Forest Action Plan, business management, and policy, planning & outreach. Following is a brief description of the programs, products, and services offered through the Forestry Division's diverse programs:

Fire, insects, and disease don't stop at the fence lines. Neither should our management. The Montana Forest Action Plan is Montana's all lands, all plans for improving forest health and reducing wildfire risk across the state:
Through the Good Neighbor Authority (GNA), the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation partners with the USDA Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and other partners to plan and implement forest restoration projects on federal lands that address shared priorities.
Ensures Forestry Division business functions are efficient and comply with all state and federal policies and procedures. Additionally, the Forestry Division Office coordinates DNRC facilities management statewide. The Forestry Division Office efforts focus primarily in the following programs:
